Our Profile
Franklin Family Support Trust is dedicated to providing quality services and support to assist families or individual members. It currently offers Family Finance advice, counselling, abuse prevention programmes, social work service, strengthening families meetings, transport to medical or hospital appointments, and an extensive information and advice service.
Founded in 1982 and incorporated in 1985, the Trust is operated by a Governance Committee and a blend of professional and voluntary service providers.
Initially a completely voluntary organisation, the Centre has expanded to employ 14 staff but still has in excess of 50 voluntary staff.
In 1994, the Family Support Centre purchased their premises at 2 King Street Pukekohe and provided most of their services from this location. Clients accessing the Trust's services come from throughout Franklin.
Funding is provided through a mix of Government Service Contracts, fees, grants and donations. The Trust has enjoyed considerable support from the local community which has enabled it to keep providing this essential range of services.
In 2008 the organisation completed the transition from an incorporated society - Family Support Centre, to a charitable Trust - Franklin Family Support Trust - known as Franklin Family Support Services.
2009 saw the opening of a second branch in Waiuku and this will hopefully be followed with another in Tuakau. The aim is to have services available across all three sites.
A number of key personnel have received community awards in recognition of the excellent service provided by the organization.
