Our Profile

Every year Franklin Family Support Services provide help to 12,000 people and families.

Franklin Family Support Trust is dedicated to providing quality services and support to assist families or individual members. It currently offers Family Finance advice, counselling, abuse prevention programmes, social work service, strengthening families meetings, parenting programs, transport to medical or hospital appointments, and an extensive information and advice service.

Founded in 1982 and incorporated in 1985, the Trust is operated by a Governance Board of Trustees and a blend of professional and voluntary service providers.

Initially a completely voluntary organisation, the Centre has expanded to employ 24 staff but still has in excess of 50 voluntary staff.

In 1994, the Family Support Centre purchased their premises at 2 King Street Pukekohe and provided most of their services from this location. Clients accessing the Trust's services come from throughout Franklin.

Funding is provided through a mix of Government Service Contracts, fees, grants and donations. The Trust has enjoyed considerable support from the local community which has enabled it to keep providing this essential range of services.

In 2008 the organisation completed the transition from an incorporated society - Family Support Centre, to a charitable Trust - Franklin Family Support Trust - known as Franklin Family Support Services.

It had been evident for a number of years that our iconic building in King Street was struggling to accommodate all of our people and range of services.

In 2014 the decision was made to sell the building, and in 2015 we moved into newly refurbished offices on the first floor of the old Bookinopolis building in Roulston Street, Pukekohe, ironically right across the street from the rooms where Franklin Family Support was started.

We moved to work from the council buildings on 82 Manukau Road.

A number of key personnel have received community awards in recognition of the excellent service provided by the organisation.

We have come a long way since our founders recognised the need to provide counselling and a food bank all those years ago.

We now have our permanent home in our new building at 205 King Street, Pukekohe.
