Family Finances

Franklin Family Support Services' Family Finances team aims to help families find security in handling their own financial affairs through the development of good money management skills.

We offer the following to individuals and families:

-    Free, confidential, non-judgemental advice and support

-    Help with planning a budget and living within an income

-    Negotiations with creditors as required

-    Arrangement of banking and recording systems

-    Budgets are designed to family or individual needs. No money is given or held by the service. 

-    We respect confidentiality unless the safety of the client or others is threatened.

Your first appointment:

You will need to know the details of your income, or Work and Income can supply you with your personal benefit details. You will also need to know the details of payments you are committed to, such as rent, power, telephone, and how much you need for housekeeping each week.

Other things that we would like you to bring to help a budgeter draw up a sound budget plan for you are:

Community Services card and customer number

Your latest bank statement

Details of rent or mortgage

Latest power account

Latest phone account

All hire purchase details

Credit card debts

Any loan arrangement details

All accounts unpaid

Any other debts, i.e. family

Rates, insurances, school and club fees

Vehicle registration and Warrant of Fitness dates.
